Thirty Years of Research in Halal: A Bibliometric Analysis

Abstract

This research is tries to conduct science mapping on halal-related research in last thirty years. As far as the author's know, there is no halal-related article that conducts science mapping in the halal landscape and in a long span of time. Some previous studies have used specific halal topics and relatively short time spans. Research with a broad landscape is needed to see the whole thing, as well as chart the future research direction in order to fill the empty spaces of halal science. This study used bibliometric analysis, to adjust to large datasets. In total, this research analyzed 9,456 published articles, with a total of 1,765 different authors. Data that has been collected, then analyzed with web-based (Dimensions) and software-based (Vosviewer). One of the interesting findings in this study is that in 2023 there will be a significant decrease in the number of halal-related articles published, compared to the previous year. Other findings from such as trends, clusters, top leading country, top leading affiliation, connections between author, etc. are described in the findings section.
