Diversifying Trade for Kuwait’s Growth: Dynamic Panel Model Insights

Abstract

This paper examinees the inter-linkages between economic growth, innovations, exports complexity and economic diversification paths fossil-fuels exporting economy, Kuwait. The trio-roles of developing of high-tech products in international competitiveness and exports diversity, and economic growth is formally modelled using rich panel data on 56 emerging, developed, and developing countries covering 1970–2020. The paper applies quantitative techniques including generalized least squares (GLS) and fixed effect modelling in addition to panel vector autoregressive model (PVAR) in order to test the direction and magnitude of causal linkages between tech-innovation, trade diversification, and economic sustainability. The paper incorporates the impact of modern seaports in fostering innovations, trade diversity, and growth sustainability. Policy recommendations are derived for Kuwait's future diversification and digitization pathway.
