Agricultural Land Use And Economic Development in Northern Kazakhstan: A Restoration-Coefficient Approach Online First

Abstract

This article aims to investigate the status of agricultural land in Kazakhstan's North Macroregion (KNM) and to identify effective measures for optimizing its rational use to foster economic growth. The authors draw on updated statistical data for 2013–2023, complemented by consolidated analytical reports on land resources. A novel Restoration Coefficient (Ir) is introduced - derived from a modified Gauss theorem using the finite difference method-to quantify the area required to restore underperforming sown lands. Our findings underscore the impact of farmland availability on gross agricultural output while also noting the moderating role of climatic variations. We further propose how infrastructure investments, technological innovation, and improved farming practices can drive sustainable land use and enhance regional competitiveness. This research contributes fresh theoretical insights and offers practical recommendations for policymakers, agrarian stakeholders, and researchers concerned with land management in transitional economies.
