The Relationship Between Carbon Dioxide Emissions and Economic Growth: Findings from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Countries Online First

Abstract

This study aims to investigate carbon dioxide emissions caused by economic growth in 52 different member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). For this purpose, annual economic growth data from OIC countries and 8 different carbon dioxide emission datasets were used. Fourier analysis was applied to these datasets to examine the relationship between carbon dioxide emissions and economic growth. The study yielded striking results supported by policy recommendations.
